Utilizing baby furniture to solve storage problems

Storage Strategies

When selecting baby furniture for storing clothes, toys, and baby bedding, keep in mind that baby clothing is small and will be hard to find in drawers that are too spacious. Toy chests, while not necessary, are desirable to many parents and make a great place to store baby blankets, linens, and larger items. A nice dresser can be used for a lifetime, and a low, wide one is easier for toddlers to access. Once your child is able to dress himself/herself, she will want the freedom to select his/her own clothes. Since the dresser will be around for many years, possibly a lifetime, it is wise to invest in a good one. To make more room for clothes in the closet, hang a second clothes bar halfway down. Baby clothes are small, and this will allow you to double the closet space. Baby furniture can be versatile and used for many years to come.

Use open

storage, such as bookcases and shelves, for items you would like the child to be able to access easily. Books and toys, for instance, are good things to have in easy reach. For items that tend to create clutter and mess, opt for closed storage, such as closets, cupboards, and drawers. You may wish to store bulkier items, such as baby blankets and large toys, in another room.

If space is tight and storage minimal, center the baby crib on a wall and place storage units on each side for a nice framed look. Another option is to use a small corner cupboard for extra storage that can last from the baby nursery into the teen years.
